A screw is missing from your Conforama furniture, or one of them is damaged. There are two options: ask Conforama customer service for a replacement, or fit a compatible screw with the same diameter and length. This page explains how to identify the right size, then where to order it.

Start with the assembly instructions

The instructions list the screws supplied, almost always with a reference letter (A, B, C…) and the quantity, sometimes the size. Note the reference of the missing screw. If you no longer have the instructions, the product page on the Conforama website usually offers the PDF for download.

Measure the screw in thirty seconds

The easiest way is to use an identical screw that's already fitted:

  • The diameter is measured across the threaded part, from one thread crest to the other: 3, 4, 5, 6 or 8 mm in almost all flat-pack furniture.
  • The length is measured from the tip to the underside of the head if the head is flat or domed, and to the top of the head if it's countersunk, meaning conical.
  • The drive is the shape of the recess in the head: cross (Pozidriv or Phillips), six-pointed star (Torx), hex socket, or a simple slot.

A screw is then noted as diameter × length: a 4 × 30 screw is 4 mm in diameter and 30 mm long. You'll find this notation on our product pages.

Does Conforama supply missing screws for free?

It depends on the store, the purchase date and the piece of furniture. Conforama customer service is still the first thing to try, with the furniture reference and the screw's letter code. A compatible screw is often the faster solution, especially when the furniture is no longer sold.

Does a screw from another brand hold just as well?

Yes, as long as the diameter, length and head type match. Flat-pack furniture screws are standardised: what matters is the size, not the logo printed on the bag.

What if the hole no longer holds the screw?

In a particleboard panel, a worn hole can be fixed with a screw one size wider in diameter and the same length, or by filling the hole before driving the screw back in. It's best to avoid a longer screw: it would come out the other side of the panel.
