IKEA LISABO Spare Parts: Repair, Maintain, Last

IKEA LISABO Spare Parts: Repair, Maintain, Last

The LISABO stands out in the IKEA catalog. Its tabletop in ash veneer on an alveolar core and its legs in solid ash or birch earned it the Red Dot Design Award 2016. This choice of materials has direct consequences: wood moves, legs loosen, and caps wear out. This guide covers common problems and the IKEA LISABO spare parts to know.

Models in the Range

The LISABO is available in several formats: dining tables (88, 140 and 200 cm), round table (105 cm in diameter), coffee tables (70 x 70 cm and 118 x 50 cm), desk/console (118 x 45 cm), side table (45 x 45 cm) and chair.

Two finishes: natural ash and black/ash (available on dining tables and the round table).

Common Problems and Solutions

Legs Loosening

This is the most frequent problem. Each leg fits into the tabletop via a cylindrical tenon, locked by a lateral tightening screw. Solid wood reacts to humidity variations: the screw gradually loses tightness.

A wobbly leg is not a defect. It's a tightening to be redone.

Procedure:

  1. Turn over or tilt the table to access the fixing.
  2. Locate the locking screw on the side of the leg (Phillips or Allen key depending on the version).
  3. Tighten until firmly resistant. Do not force: the wood may split.
  4. Put the table upright and test.

IKEA recommends re-tightening two weeks after assembly. In practice, an annual check is sufficient.

Tabletop Warping

Ash veneer reacts to humidity. A spilled glass left in place, a plant placed directly, a winter that is too dry: the tabletop may deform.

Golden rule: never wait to wipe up a liquid. For plants, a saucer with air between the pot and the tabletop is sufficient.

A slight existing warp can sometimes be corrected by gradually humidifying the concave face. This is delicate: monitor and proceed in stages.

Missing Leg Caps

The protective pads wear out, especially on tile. A leg without a cap scratches the floor and creates slight instability. Replacing the caps is the cheapest and most impactful repair for this furniture.

Ordering a LISABO Spare Part

Before ordering, note the article number inscribed under the tabletop. The formats in the range coexist, and the legs of an 88 cm table are not identical to those of a 200 cm table.

The three most requested parts:

  • Leg fixing screws — small, easy to lose, critical for stability.
  • Leg caps — consumables that wear out on all types of floors.
  • Legs — in case of a crack or fracture following an impact.

LISABO screws are specific to this range. They are not interchangeable with other IKEA screws.

Annual Maintenance in 4 Steps

  1. Cleaning: slightly damp cloth, mild soap. Wipe immediately with a dry cloth. No steam or abrasive.
  2. Legs: check the tightening. A quarter turn if there is play.
  3. Caps: turn the table over. Replace them if they are flattened or missing.
  4. Oiling: a thin layer of clear wood oil, in the direction of the grain, to be left to penetrate for 15 minutes. Once a year is sufficient.
